That was the rousing message from Dr Ken Nischal at the end of a very successful 4th World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, in Hyderabad, India. The Congress attracted close to 1,200 attendees, and Dr Nischal said that everyone at the congress had shaped the future of global paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. Prof Harminder Dua, UK, delivered the Kanski Medal Lecture on Posterior Corneal Anatomy: Context, Controversy, Corroboration and Clinical Considerations. The Strabismus Lecture ‘was delivered by Professor Richard Hertle, USA on How and What We Learned From Studying Nystagmus in Infancy and Childhood. Professor Lea Hyvarinen of Finland delivered the Non Strabismus Lecture on Non-Strabismus The Important First Year. Dr Nischal also congratulated the doctors who won awards for their excellent contribution to the programme. They were: Best Paper   - Jyoti Matalia; Vimal Rajput; Marta Tartarella Best Poster - Simon Welsh Best Video   -  Bhanunathi Madhavrao Local host president, Dr Ramesh Kekunnaya of L V Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) said this was the first time a world congress on Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus had been held in India. “This Congress will provide the ophthalmologists with practical skills and the latest knowledge which they will take back to their place of work, enabling and empowering them to make necessary improvements in their services,” he said. The 5th World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus will be held in Amsterdam, Holland from October 3- October 5, 2020 * Reports on some of the main sessions from the congress will be published in EuroTimes, the official news magazine of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
