Roger F Steinert MD (right) pictured after delivering the Charles D Kelman Lecture with David Chang MD The death has occurred of Roger Francis Steinert, MD, an internationally recognized authority on corneal and refractive surgery. Dr. Steinert died peacefully at his home in Vail, Colorado on June 6 He was 66 years old. In November 2016 Dr Steinert delivered the Charles D Kelman Lecture at the American Academy of Ophthalmology Annual Meeting. The lecture is presented by individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of cataract surgery through education, innovation or scientific study. The AAO recognized Dr Steinert for his long-time commitment to cataract surgery education in academia and professional societies, as well as his work with industry on advanced devices and instruments. The European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons offers its condolences for Dr Steinert's family, friends and colleagues. A report on Dr Steinert's Kelman lecture at last year's AAO Congress will appear in the July/August issue of EuroTimes.
