Retina Navigation introduced at EURETINA 2009 Congress
Dr Aljoscha Neubauer of the Ludwig-Maximillians University, Department of Ophthalmology, Munich, Germany delivered a technical paper at the 9th EURETINA Congress in Nice, France discussing a new technology which has the potential to provide improved precision and accuracy for retina physicians in the photocoagulation therapy of patients with laser treatable retinal disorders.
This was the first paper to be presented in Europe on this investigational device NAVILAS™ developed by OD-OS GmbH which incorporates sophisticated colour, Infra Red and fluorescein angiography imaging into a diode pumped solid state photocoagulator (DPSS).
Dr Neubauer said: “NAVILAS Retinal Navigation establishes a new level regarding laser treatment application and integration with diagnostics. Moreover it is a necessary prerequisite towards improving treatment options.”
NAVILAS is a digital ophthalmoscope, based on scanning slit technology developed to provide continuous high-resolution digital imaging in colour using white light illumination, infrared imaging and providing fluorescein angiography.
An investigational device, the NAVILAS is pending CE Mark and currently under regulatory review.
