OCULUS introduces expanded Pentacam portfolio
OCULUS Optikgeraete GmbH (Wetzlar/Germany) has expanded its Pentacam portfolio to three models with different software configurations.
The company say this change was made to accommodate the specific practice and clinical needs. The Pentacam range starts now with the Pentacam BASIC. It comes with a basic software including Scheimpflug image, colour refractive and topometric maps. This enables surgeons to compare exams, tomography, keratometry readings, non-contact pachymetric measurements, anterior chamber depth measurements and the angle in degrees. This configuration focuses to the demands of optometrists, opticians and general ophthalmologists.
The Pentacam CLASSIC is equipped with the basic software plus a package for refractive and one for cataract surgeons. This includes the unique corneal wavefront that is based on anterior and posterior corneal data.
Additionally, the 3D lens density analysis and cataract grading system PNS is included. The Pentacam HR includes, among other software modules, the unique pachymetry and elevation based Keratoconus detection, developed by Prof Michael Belin, Albany/New York and Dr Renato Ambrosio Jr, Rio de Janeiro/Brazil. The advanced Holladay Report, developed by Jack T Holladay, Houston/Texas is included providing the unique EKRs for improved IOL calculation for patients who underwent refractive surgery in the past.
