SCHWIND announces groundbreaking software solution for treatment of presbyopia
At the XXVII ESCRS Congress in Barcelona, Spain, SCHWIND presented a groundbreaking and sophisticated software solution for treatment of presbyopia with the SCHWIND AMARIS.
With PresbyMAX®, it is possible for the first time to treat emmetropic as well as myopic, hyperopic and astigmatic patients whose accommodative response is limited.
SCHWIND said that in contrast to other methods so far applied for presbyopia treatment, PresbyMAX® delivers bi-aspheric multifocal ablation profiles. With this new method, near vision of presbyopic patients even with additional visual defects (i.e. distance refraction and high-order-aberrations) is significantly improved and sharp vision without spectacles becomes possible.
The software was developed by SCHWIND in cooperation with VISSUM under the direction of Prof Jorge Alió, Spain, and the OCIVIS group from the University of Alicante.
