NIDEK has announced the launch of the SL-2000 Slit Lamp. “NIDEK’s expertise in optical engineering has been used to design the SL-2000 in pursuit of a superior experience for both patient and practitioner during examination,” said a company spokesperson. “The SL-2000 provides a crisp and clear view of ocular tissue in nearly natural colour. The optical design of the SL-2000 optimises resolution and contrast to visualise ocular tissue in exquisite detail. Additionally, the increased depth of focus enables better observation of the peripheral fundus,” said the company spokesperson. According to Nidek, a long-lasting LED light source provides effective, consistent brightness, and the unique colour-temperature relationship of the illumination system enables observation in nearly natural colour, even for fundus examination. A proprietary optical lens is incorporated into the SL-2000 to reduce uneven lighting and compensate for aberrations. www.nidek.com
