Prof.dr. Rudy MMA Nuijts

“I’m delighted to invite you all to the Virtual ESCRS Winter Meeting of 2021 which will take place from the 19th to the 21st of February.
As we begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel at this most difficult time in all our lives, the ESCRS continues to push forward and is determined to deliver the best possible scientific programme to our members and attendees.
We know that this is a difficult time for many of you and we are determined to make this meeting as accessible as possible to everyone.
As such, registration to members has been reduced to just €75. The fee for non-members is €100 and trainees will only pay €35. I recommend you go to www.escrs.org now to complete your registration.
MEET THE EXPERTS
Many of you have been coming to the ESCRS for years and we are determined to deliver the same quality of meeting, albeit in these changed circumstances. You can expect the best presentations, sessions and discussions as usual.
And we have learned from our October meeting, listening to feedback and hearing from you, what worked well. In that spirit, we have included generous time for discussion and time has been allotted to take questions from the attendees, once again placing you at the centre of the meeting.
We have also reworked our renowned day-long sessions on cataract, refractive and corneal surgery into more manageable, shorter instructional courses.
We listened when you told us you would like to see more face-to-face interaction and we have introduced eight Meet The Experts sessions throughout the meeting. A new Video Chat feature means you can connect easily and personally with other delegates. And Breakout Rooms at the end of some sessions will give you the opportunity for face-to-face discussion on the topic with a small group of people.
This is all in addition to what you were all accustomed to from ESCRS Congresses with cutting edge symposia and world-class speakers across the entire programme.
3D Virtual Exhibition
We are delighted to have been given continued support from industry. Our 3D Virtual Exhibition will allow you to meet with companies as usual and a full schedule of sponsored lunchtime satellite symposia will be on offer.
There is also a brand-new session where experts will discuss the latest innovations from industry
This whole meeting is happening in conjunction with our friends in the Cataract and Refractive Surgery Section of the Polish Ophthalmological Society. Sadly, we cannot meet in Krakow as originally planned but we still benefit from the expertise of many of their speakers. We sincerely thank them for their support for this meeting, both in the planning stages and what I know will be their enthusiastic participation.
I really look forward to meeting our ESCRS family at our Virtual ESCRS Winter Meeting of 2021 from the 19th to the 21st of February for an event we will never forget.”
