Achieving Optimal Cataract Refractive Outcomes with Presbyopia and Toric Lens Technologies

On Friday February 21st,  2020 Professor Rudy MMA Nuijts and Professor Thomas Kohnen will co-moderate an exciting lunchtime ESCRS Education Forum on presbyopia-correcting and toric IOLs. The panel of experts will be discussing key elements of preoperative measurements, lens selection, and postoperative management of residual errors for patients with presbyopia and astigmatism.

In addition to the moderators, the faculty includes  Oliver Findl,  Beatrice Cochener-Lamard, Francesco Carones and Filomena Ribeiro. Didactic presentations will focus on preoperative planning, a review of the latest data on trifocal and EDOF IOL options, key considerations for the presbyopic astigmatic patient, and tips for mitigating postoperative error in refractive IOL patients. The programme will also include panel discussions on several topics, including how to match presbyopia correction patient expectations with treatment options.

Further, this session will review key data from the 2019 ESCRS Clinical Survey of over 2,100 delegates. Current and year-over-year trends in clinical practice patterns and beliefs will be presented in regards to preoperative measurements, utilization of presbyopia and toric IOL technologies, as well as shifting delegate perception on acceptable degrees of postoperative rotational error in toric IOLs.

This ESCRS Education Forum will take place on Friday, February 21st from 12:45-14:15 in the Auditorium des Ambassadeurs at the ESCRS Winter Meeting in Marrakech, Morocco. The programme is supported by unrestricted medical education grants from Alcon and Johnson & Johnson Vision.
