Prof. Dr. Jorge Alió who spoke at the 5th International Red Sea Ophthalmology Symposium
The 5th International Red Sea Ophthalmology Symposium took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 20th to 23rd 2019. This congress is a gathering for ophthalmologists of the Arabian Gulf area and other Middle East countries and it is based mainly on specialized courses on different levels headed by opinion leaders either from the area or international.
Over 16 international speakers and 20 local speakers took part in the organization of the sessions. The courses were on the topics of cornea (lead by Dr Abdullah Al-Barry), cataract (Dr Al-Harby), refractive surgery (Dr Al Malky), uveitis (Dr Waheeb), oculoplastics (Dr Almazroui), optometry (Mr Al Hassani).
There was a programme for young ophthalmologists, wetlabs organized mainly on corneal transplantation procedures and free paper presentations.
The president of the Red Sea Ophthalmology Symposium was Ali Al Khairi and it was under the auspices of the royal family in the person of HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Al Saud.
Relevant international speakers were invited and took an active role in the program among them Amar Agarwal, Jorge Alio, Anas Anbari, Sadeer Hannush, Alaa Al Danasoury who attended and participated actively in many sessions.
The meeting will take place again next year and the topics will be rotate according to the organizing committee.
